I joined and truly look forward to going every morning. Also, there was literally NO sales pitch or pressure to join. Rather, the focus was/is on learning to do every element correctly and safely to maximize results. There was absolutely no pressure to ‘prove myself’. Also, members vary in age, fitness levels and fitness goals. They took the time to explain everything clearly and they scaled the workouts so I felt I was challenged, but no going overboard. Emily and the rest of the staff are down to earth and approachable.

I tried the free week at CrossFit Automile and I loved it. I was also afraid it was going to be all young, ripped people and me. A lot of the elements intimidated me and I was afraid I would be pressured to more than I can handle. I researched CrossFit and again was a little dubious. I felt good, but wanted something more challenging. I joined a gym and happily worked out there for 5+ months on my own. I had heard about CrossFit from family members who frankly seemed a little obsessed, which turned me off. Having had two kids in the last 3+ years, I wanted to get back in shape to be healthy for them. I have always been active but in last five years I really hadn’t worked out with any regularity. Seriously, there’s no reason not to join! There’s usually a Groupon going on, and the first week is free, etc.

My husband tells me that the Saturday morning Olympic lifting classes are really, really helpful, and Saturday yoga is also supposed to return this fall! And lastly, the prices are great. There’s a lot of variety in the workouts, the space is huge, and parking is fine. Apparently the most popular classes are the 5: 15am and 5: 30pm where there can be up to 10 – 15 people. Everyone here is either really nice and encouraging, or they don’t really notice you, so no matter what you’re doing, you feel like you’re doing a good job! :) I go to the 4: 00 classes on weekdays, which are nice and small (no more than 6 – 8 people at most!). As a petite and not-so-strong person, I was intimidated about all the lifting at first, but I just started super light and am working my way up.

There’s more weightlifting at this gym than what I’m used to at my previous gym, which I really like. She is constantly looking around, making sure everyone’s using correct form, placing safety and correct form over speed and strength. I’ve been coming here since June or July, and it’s been fantastic.
